High Speed Camera Slider

This motorised slider was designed to move a Phantom Veo camera filming 4K 1000fps at speeds of up to 5 metres per second.

Initially, it was developed for a natural history television production and was controlled via laptop.

I later added an OLED screen and button controls for super easy operation.

I also developed a mobile app which could control the slider via bluetooth.

Tech Spec

• Max Camera Weight: 5KG (eg stripped down 'Phantom VEO')
• Top Speed: >3.5 metres per second @ 4KG camera load
• Length: 200cm of travel, 230cm total.
• Slider weight: ~10KG + ~5KG control panel & cables (estimated)
• Power: 230v mains power (can be adapted to work with 110v)
  A small >300w UPS is recommended.
  The system should run happily off of a V-lok with an inverter for at least an hour. (not yet tested), you could also run it from a UPS.
• Wireless triggering of Phantom synced to movement of slider.
• Will work vertically for lighter cameras.
• Can be reprogrammed for super-slow and precise movements for other applications like timelapse.
